QUESTION - How will I get my plans?

ANSWER -  Plans will be sent out within 48 hours or receiving the order and shipped via US mail. We choose not to send them over the web or email because they were shared too freely in the past.

QUESTION - What kind of wood is best to use?

ANSWER -  With all the choices of wood, you have to see samples to make choices. Hardwoods are rich with character but some soft woods like pine with little or no knots is fine as well and a lot less expensive. You can buy inexpensive wood and paint your easel as well. One main consideration with wood is that it is straight as possible.

QUESTION - Do I have to order any special parts or items?

ANSWER -  All hardware parts can be found at any big box store or hardware store. Lumber choices can be found there as well, unless you're looking for a different kind of hardwood. I've found a lot of wood on Craig's List as well. There are a few parts you will need for a few easels like knob handles that might be found locally, but we've listed web links to online stores that carry them and ship within 24 hours, so its not a problem.

QUESTION - What kind of  tripod do I need for the Plein air easel?

ANSWER -  The tripod should be sturdy and most importantly have a stable head that the easel will sit on. Tripods that are made for video cameras and large SLR camera work best. If you have a chance to try mounting your easel to it first to find out if it is sturdy and doesn't wobble. I've bought some on E-Bay that were older models and not only very sturdy but very cheap.

QUESTION - How hard are these projects to build?

ANSWER  -  Some woodworking experience is necessary for sure. Assembly is done with some finish nails, some screws and glue. The wood will have to be cut to size which requires a table saw. A drill and simple hand tools like a hammer, screwdriver, measuring tools are needed. If you are experienced with a table saw, everything is very simple in all the projects. If not, you could ask people you know to cut the wood for you and you could assemble it as well.
